Alpha is a global tool for evangelization and over 25 Million people have attended the course in over 166 countries. We have many testimonies from fellow parishioners who had been attending Mass on a regular basis but who felt as though something was missing.
Through Alpha people often realise that they can have a personal relationship with Jesus and their lives are changed. Alpha runs over a period of 10 weeks and deals with topics such as ‘Who is Jesus?’, ‘How can I make the most of the rest of my life?’ and ‘How can I have Faith?’
Alpha allows people to ‘ask anything’ because many of us have never had the opportunity to discuss our faith openly with others. For many people Alpha has been a catalyst, opening the way for deep relationships with the people who attend Mass with them every week, people who, for the most part, remain otherwise anonymous.
How does it look like?
- Food Every session begins with food, whether it’s a three-course meal or a light snack. Eating food together creates space for people to connect, relax and share life on a deeper level.
- Talk The Alpha talks are designed to engage people from all walks of life and inspire conversation. They explore the big issues of life and faith and unpack the basics of Christian belief.
- Discussion The discussion time is an opportunity for people to respond to the talk, hear from others, and contribute their own perspective in an honest, friendly, and open environment.
